The Incredible Forearm Strength of Bruce Lee

As has been said many times before, Bruce Lee had the greatest physique with the best abs and incredible arm strength. Bruce was so innovative in his workouts that in addition to his basic weight lifting and martial arts training he concentrated on developing his forearms and grip. During his time, exercising the forearm on it's own was not commonly done. As of the last few years has grip training started to become more popular and has developed a sub-culture of sorts, Bruce was ahead of the times.

He believed that by strengthening the forearms and improving his grip he would have that extra edge in punching power. I would say he proved himself correct as he had demonstrated in his punching power.

Bruce Lee spent a lot of time doing a type of dumbbell curl that was called the Zottman curl. It was done by curling the dumbbell up like normal, then at the top you rotate your wrists so your palms are facing down then lower the dumbbell. You would repeat this for however many reps you are doing. In addition he was known to do a lot of wrist curls.

One Bruce's friends was known to have made equipment designed by Bruce for his workout routines and some of them were made for his grip strength. Linda Lee has said that Bruce would get any new forearm training book or guide that someone would put out with the hopes of finding something new that he could try, "He was a forearm fanatic" she has said of Bruce.
